About L. M. Funerals
L. M. Funerals Ltd is one of the largest independent funeral services companies in the UK. Established in September 2003, with financial backing from Sovereign Capital Partners LLP to buy the businesses of Laurel Management Services Ltd., we now have over 60 branches around the country.
These continue to trade under their original names and often still involve their original owners. Most of our businesses have been trading for many years, some since the 19th century, so their reputations have been built over a sustained period.
London-based Sovereign, our major shareholder, has a successful track record of investing in unquoted UK businesses. It provides the financial and management backing to support their growth via a programme of organic and acquired growth, developing excellence in customer service.
However, only well-established businesses of good standing and reputation are of interest to us. We have a proven track record of recognising and embracing the experience, heritage and customer service values built up over many years within our portfolio. In addition to acquisitions we also have a programme of refurbishing existing branches and ongoing new branch openings.
We recognise that the value of our business lies in the quality of our staff and the excellent service they provide, as well as the special relationship they enjoy with their clients. With this firmly in mind we are committed to staff development.
To underpin this, L. M. Funerals provides central management expertise from our Head Office in Wolverhampton in the areas of finance, IT, HR, training, marketing, operating standards and health and safety. A field team supports branch staff enabling them to concentrate on providing excellence in funeral service and client care.
Individual and team views are actively encouraged. They have informed company strategy and direction, building on experience and sharing best practice, so customer service standards are always at the forefront of our business.
Equally important is open and honest lines of communication. Examples of this are monthly newsletters and regular team meetings, which provide an active forum for sharing and exchanging ideas.
Many of the good ideas are now integral to the way we service our clients. This includes continually looking at ways to develop client choice, products and services, and listening to client feedback.
